About Brooklyn Walks
An independent walking-guide website for exploring Brooklyn’s public streets, parks and waterfronts.
What this site provides
The guides turn a place name into an outing: a starting point, a sequence of named streets or park areas, a finish and a way to make the walk shorter. The walk directory compares distance, time and terrain; neighborhood pages explain which guides fit together.
The site is for visitors and residents who want to plan a walk before leaving home. It is not a tour operator or an official source for park access or transit service.
How to read a guide
Each route is an editorial suggestion assembled around public streets and spaces. Distances are rounded planning estimates, not GPS tracks or surveyed measurements. Walking times allow a few short pauses; transit, long visits and optional detours take additional time. Difficulty describes the route’s length and terrain, not a formal trail rating.
Official park, city and operator resources are linked on the relevant pages. They support location and public-space context and are the place to check changing conditions. Suggested turns and estimates are distinguished from those sources. An updated date indicates an editorial revision, not a claim that every segment was walked that day.
Editorial standards
The guides avoid unsupported opening hours, business recommendations and claims of accessibility. They do not present the suggested itineraries as first-hand field surveys. No credentials or partnerships are implied by linking an official resource.
Current signs, closures and operator instructions take priority. A guide may need a correction if an entrance changes or a connection closes. Send a correction with the page address, affected step and a source where available.
